The island Curaçao
Curaçao is a Caribbean island, the largest island of the Leeward Islands or the Lesser Antilles. It is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Curaçao is 64 kilometers long and 16 kilometers wide (at its widest point). Aruba and Bonaire are the neighboring islands of the island. The landscape is varied: on the north coast it is rough and rocky with in some places even red sand that looks African, to tropical white beaches with calm blue sea. On the north coast there is only 1 beach where you can swim, all other beaches are on the south coast. The south coast is the side where the water is calm and the beautiful beaches are located.
The language
Different languages are spoken, but Papiamentu and Dutch are both official languages. Many people also speak Spanish and English.
Valuta
On Curaçao you pay with the Antillean Gulden. Dollars are often accepted, but take into account an unfavorable exchange rate. Upon arrival at the airport there are ATMs where you can immediately withdraw guilders.
The climate
In Curaçao it is almost always windy and the wind is usually in the same direction. This wind is called the trade wind. Because of this trade wind it remains pleasant on Curaçao, despite the sometimes high temperatures. Curaçao has no seasons, but rather speaks of the rainy period and dry period. The rainy season is from October to February. Rain showers can be heavy tropical showers, but also just a short shower, after which a clear blue sky can be seen again 5 minutes later. Even during the rainy season, days can go by without a drop of rain or only days in which the rain only falls at night. Outside the rainy season, Curaçao is a relatively dry island and is known for its beautiful sunny days.

Curaçao is close to Aruba and Bonaire, super nice to combine for a complete honeymoon. The climate is also wonderful: little rain and lots of sun!
